The OWA is working to support our 2026 Junior & Senior Team athletes as they travel to Quebec to compete at Nationals!

For many, qualifying for Nationals is the result of years of persistence, resilience and support from coaches and clubs.

But competing at this level comes with real costs.

With the help of our community we can support team Ontario step onto the national platform prepared, supported and united!

This year, Ontario’s best weightlifters are preparing to compete at the 2026 Canadian Senior Weightlifting Championship in Quebec, and the 2026 junior Canadian Championship also taking place in Quebec. Reaching this level takes years of dedication, and many athletes face significant costs for travel, accommodations, and equipment. Your donations would mean a great deal to our teams and support them achieving excellence.

Donations to our senior team can be made through May 11th, and for the junior team through May 30th.

Join us for a fun and supportive weekend of lifting in preparation for Canadian Masters Championships! This camp will run May 22–24, from Friday evening through Sunday morning.

This camp is an excellent opportunity for Masters athletes to train with peers from across the province, receive high-quality coaching, and finalise preparation ahead of the competitive season.

Athletes can expect a structured weekend of training, including multiple coached sessions focused on technical refinement, competition readiness, and individualised feedback. The camp environment encourages collaboration and shared learning among athletes and coaches, while maintaining a focus on performance and safe sport principles.

Coaches are welcome to attend and be part of the training environment.

📣In spirit of our upcoming partnership with @hersportsfest , the OWA spoke with a few female athletes to find out what draws them, and possibly others, into the sport of weightlifting!

Olympic weightlifting has become an amazing outlet for a lot of female athletes of all ages. It is a sport that creates not only strength but coordination, power and resilience. Whether the source of trying weightlifting is to assist in other sports, the joy of getting involved in a new sport, or the bragging rights of putting your body weight over your head👀

The sport has proven to be a great community space for girls of ALL ages. 💜

Weights are a tool that can be utilized to build better body awareness. Finding a club near you to learn the basic and properly progress through the movements and load is a good place to start.

Join the OWA at @hersportsfest this spring to experience weightlifting yourself! No experience necessary, just enthusiasm 😄

The preliminary start list has now been posted. With a large number of participants in this competition, adjustments are expected as we finalize sessions and process changes such as athlete withdrawals and weight class changes. All athletes, coaches, and clubs are strongly encouraged to review the start list carefully and remain mindful that updates may occur.

Please ensure you check the FINAL start list once it is published, as this will reflect all confirmed sessions, start times, and athlete placements.
